Signals & Noise Week Ending 23rd Jan 2026

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT

  • Greenland sends markets into redland.
  • Iran not running yet.
  • Cuba is next.
  • DAVOS - "Globalisation has failed". “The Trump Administration and I are here to make a very clear point—globalization has failed the West and the United States of America. It’s a failed policy… and it has left America behind.” America is done exporting jobs and offshoring its future. We will no longer give in to globalization.
  • Microsoft and Apple continue to fall below the 200SMA.

The Oz Economy

  • Consumer confidence falls. It appears consumers are zipping wallets but this may be just a post Xmas hangover.

  • Employment bounces. Positives signs for the economy but we need to see if it continues.

Lesson of the Week

And the sudden wave of private credit offerings quoting 7.5% and 8% paid monthly?...
Preparation, not prediction | Signals and Noise, August 7
Access Newsletter  This week's Signals & Noise is live. The theme: you do not need to predict the fire to survive it, you need insurance. We break down how to build a portfolio that is not fragile, ideally one that is robust or even anti-fragile, so a market fall holds no fear. It is the frame we are carrying into a genuinely uncertain stretch. Premium members also got the Cotality table show...
Is the property game finally over? Signals and Noise, July 31
Access Newsletter  Most investors fail for two reasons. They base risk on their age instead of what markets actually cost today. And they get pulled into daily noise instead of thinking about how time compounds a portfolio. In this week's free edition: - This week's podcast, The Property Game Is Over: why two decades of leveraged one way bets on Australian housing look to be finished, free to...
