As we approach the end of the year, we can expect a good run but this is generally historical rather than attributing it to anything special about then current market. Paul Tudor Jones is a well respected trader who said "nothing good ever happens under the 200-day moving average". So watch the 200 day simple moving average.

Short Stories

  • Tech stocks had the largest ever weekly inflow of funds - $9.3 billion. Bubble!

  • The US economy is faltering.

The Oz Economy

The next decade or two will be about deleveraging from the extreme level of household debt. In order for an economy to grow, some other sector in this case, government or business, must borrow. That's the way a debt economy works. There are very few if any alternatives.

And the sudden wave of private credit offerings quoting 7.5% and 8% paid monthly?...
Preparation, not prediction | Signals and Noise, August 7
Access Newsletter  This week's Signals & Noise is live. The theme: you do not need to predict the fire to survive it, you need insurance. We break down how to build a portfolio that is not fragile, ideally one that is robust or even anti-fragile, so a market fall holds no fear. It is the frame we are carrying into a genuinely uncertain stretch. Premium members also got the Cotality table show...

In this week's free edition: - This week's podcast, The Property Game Is Over: why two decades of leveraged one way bets on Australian housing look to be finished, free to...
