The Week That Was September 5th

New Podcast: Ep 100!

We’ve just hit episode 100. What started out as three mates with three listeners has now grown into a community that spans more than 100 countries and ranks among the top 30 business podcasts on Spotify.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has tuned in, shared an episode, sent through questions, or simply listened along quietly in the background. Your support has made this journey possible and kept us showing up week after week.

Our goal has always been to cut through the noise, share honest conversations, and give you evidence-based insights you can actually use. Reaching this milestone is as much about you as it is about us. Here’s to the next 100 episodes.

The boom is back! Ok, maybe exaggerating a little.

The Australian economy grew 0.6 per cent in the June quarter, slightly ahead of economist expectations.

Lesson of the Week

One important aspect of investing is what is called the sequence of returns and the way it impacts on returns. When you hear about the long term average, make sure it is the geometric avearge not the arithmetic average.

The tax myth that costs investors money | Signals & Noise, June 19
Access Newsletter  This week's Signals & Noise is live. With the recent tax changes, it is worth looking past the speculation and the bias to see what the impacts really are. The idea that investment simply stops because of tax is almost certainly wrong. Imagine a market where buyers exist but, according to the doomsayers, nobody will invest because of those dreaded taxes. There is always one...
